You will find many stones, gems and minerals of the same type in many different countries, but their colors and brightness will always be different and that s the charm.
The gem stone that you could find only in Brazil was Imperial Topaze, which is a magic stone because of its raw state structure that is very difficult to lapidade, It comes in orange or peach color, but always a unique one.

 

Topaze impériale

This yellowed-orange stone may equally be found in peach color, many times lapidaded and also found raw state where it can be the most beautiful.

Turmaline

This stone is fascinating because of the variety of its colors. Green, black, yellow, when found in red it s named Rubelite because of the color of Ruby. The best known one is Watermelon Turmaline and the rarest is Multicolor Turmaline.

Brazilianite

Found in Brazil in 1944, its color is between yellow and green.
It has a glassy bright and it can be mixed up with Citrine.

Soap Stone

Saponite Steatite is specially found in the State of Minas Gerais, Its natural color goes from green to gray.
It s a stone rich in talc, easiness to be worked on. It s the handicraftsman preferred one.

 

 

Ouro Preto

Ouro Preto was founded in 1771 by the unification of many villages. In the same year it became the main town and named Villa Rica.
In 1720, it was chosen to become the capitol of Minas Gerais. Portuguese adventurers found a black strange stone and sent samples of it back to Portugal. What they found was simply gold darkened by the iron oxidation of the soil! Therefore the town's name changed to Ouro Preto (Black Gold).
 

 

Nowadays Ouro Preto presents the most gorgeous Brazilian baroque art of Antonio Lisboa. known as Aleijadinho. Downtown it is located the Tiradentes Square, filled with a lot o History. In 1792 the leader s head of the Independence of Minas Gerais was exposed. This man, called Tiradentes is the symbol of freedom and the Brazilian independence.
